"Beginning to Weave the Nest"
A village weaver (Ploceus cocullatus) starts the nest-building process by weaving the first strands of grass onto a tree twig. Taken in Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve, South Africa.
The image was a finalist (Honorable Mention) in the 2009 National Wildlife Photo Contest. It also was featured on the Audubon site as part of their First Audubon Photography Awards.
