"Penguins in Africa?"

Yup, they really do live there and I can't wait to see them again. Here is an African penguin (Spheniscus demersus) in the midst of the flowering foliage containing its nest hole. Taken at Boulders Beach, Simon's Town, South Africa, Africa. The bird is also known as the Black-footed penguin or the Jackass penguin. The species is listed as endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species at iucnredlist.org.
