"Bull Moose On the Move"
So, yesterday morning I woke up about sunrise and looked out the windows. There was a brown blob down in the lake. Could it be? I got out the binoculars and focused. Yes, it was a bull moose (Alces alces shirasi)! I hurriedly got ready to go down there and got my camera all set up to photograph him. However, I had to wade through some tall, wet grass and shrubs and muck. The moose decided he was curious about me and kept coming closer. Eventually he stopped at a very nice distance that evidently made us both comfortable. I photographed him for over an hour and finally left him, still wading in and eating the purple loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria); unfortunately, that is an invasive species, but he didn't seem to care. Taken at Blackfoot Reservoir, Idaho, USA.
