"One Sopping Wet Grandson"
When A got within 20 feet of shore, his kayak listed to the side and it was impossible for him to stay on it! He fell in the lake. Of course he had a PFD (personal flotation device) on, so I told him he was OK. The water was mighty cold, but he swam towards shore and very conscientiously swam WITH the paddle in one hand, which wasn't easy. I didn't take any photos of him doing that, because I was concentrating on making sure he got safely to shore. Here he is, soaking wet, after shedding the PFD. James went and got the car so that A wouldn't get hypothermic, then drove him back to the RV to change and get warm. I towed his kayak back. We figured out that there were some screws missing on the hatch, plus the kayak was too small to support A, so water had gotten INSIDE and caused the instability. An adventure, for sure, and no harm done.
