I took a nice morning hike to see this part of Hovenweep. Here there were Fremont's cottonwood (Populus fremontii) growing down in the canyon. Some of the varied ancestral puebloan ruins are above and across the canyon. Taken on the Little Ruin Trail in Hovenweep National Monument, Utah, USA.
We spent several days and nights recently on Hopi Tribal Land. It was a dream come true to visit their sacred sites with our Hopi guide, Evelyn Fredericks. This image was taken in a canyon that has very unique white stripes and cross-banding in the red sandstone. It looked like a Native American blanket to me. However, this abstract was formed by nature, not mankind! Taken on the Hopi Reservation, Arizona, USA.
